Mobile Suit Gundam

SPECIAL FEATURE: "The Island of Kukuras Doan"

The fifteenth episode of the original Mobile Suit Gundam series has been left out of the English-language version of the series. Here's a full scan of the visual synopsis of the episode from Mobile Suit Gundam Storybook #2 (Kodansya, 1981), so you can get at least get an idea of what it's about.

I've heard that there were a lot of things drawn badly off-model in this episode (and you can definitely see some of that in these pictures, even though these are presumably the best-looking scenes they could choose from the show). Apparently there were so few images from this episode that they were willing to publish in the Storybook that the synopsis only took up half the length of the coverage given to most other episodes, so this probably leaves out a lot of scenes.

I've been fortunate enough to receive translations of the captions from a visitor to the site (mostly complete, with just a few words missing or unclear here and there), which give a slightly better idea about what's going on.

1 - Frau Bow at her post--receiving an SOS?
"Ensign Bright, I'm picking up an SOS that I'm sure is coming from a Federation aircraft."
Frau Bow quickly determined its position.

2 - A readout of Gundam module separation
The Island of Cokrutz Doan
Doan is both a hero, having given long service to Zeon, and a man in hiding who keeps on fighting an inglorious battle. For Amuro, the waging of war for its own sake becomes exceedingly hateful, but it is something which can prove the stature of a man through his struggling for the sake of war-orphaned children.-- Amuro re-dedicated himself with this refreshing inspiration.

"Docking... Go!" Amuro had begun his day's training, practicing the mid-air conversion of Gundam.
